There is no label in this bag, however I believe it to be from Whiting & Davis. It is such a beauty! Silver metal mesh, with a beautiful pattern in green, red, white and purple. A hinged opening with a round silver tone lid featuring a pheasant or peacock. The interior is lined. This gate top designed purse is called a miser’s purse or beggar’s purse. Measurements: approximately 5 inches high (including opening), 4 inches wide. The opening measures 3 inches in diameter. The chain adds approximately 5 inches in length. Circa 1930s.
The purse is in excellent condition, but the metal has some tarnishing. The lining is very clean.
